Over the last 20 years, Kathryn has dealt with diabetes personally, academically, and professionally.

Kathy's son was diagnosed with diabetes when he was two. 20-plus years later he is doing well without complications. Because of good diabetes management and advances in medicine, he is able to live life without being held back by diabetes.

Kathryn has true compassion for people with diabetes from all walks of life.

Her graduate thesis focused on the challenges of those living with Type 2 diabetes. She graduated from Washington State University with honors and was named outstanding graduate student in her Masters program. She is certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner and is Board Certified in Advanced Diabetes Management.

Kathryn is a life-long Tri-City resident, attending high school in Pasco and Kennewick. She was educated in nursing at Columbia Basin College, and received her Masters degree from WSU Tri-Cities. Kathy volunteers regularly at Grace Clinic, a free clinic providing services to low income, uninsured in Benton and Franklin Counties. She is also very actively involved in her church.

The joy of her life is her family. She has been married to Mark Brault for over 30 years and has four adult children, Adam, Ryan, Justin and Julie. The center of attention in her life right now is her grandchildren.
